#77 - Skin Edit - Abib Mild Sunblock Protection Tube (Sunscreen)
Abib has gotten some attention lately with their SPF stick, I thought I had one (it could be something else) but what I found was this. I really enjoy Abib skincare products but sometimes it can be hard to see their collection on products on websites like Yesstyle.
With sunscreens, I enjoy expanding my options of brands to see what their texture, feel and how they sit on the skin under makeup. Typically a lot of K-beauty sunscreens are chemical sunscreens so I don’t really check the ingredients before purchasing as from experience, most have worked out.
Well, this didn’t. This was a physical sunscreen which my skin actually hates, and how much I like the brand does not change this reality unfortunately. I hate wasting products though so unless I really can’t deal with it, I will try to make it work. I have a short Abib snippet on Reels when applied to face & first impressions
Initially, I felt like I could make it work. If you’re using this method, would recommend over-applying before patting as some of the product would go on to the pad when patting in. Recently Lab Muffin Beauty Science posted a reel that highlights the risks of rubbing your sunscreen too much as well.
Anyway, so this was tolerated until it wasn’t. In all honesty the texture of the sunscreen is actually quite nice - it’s not thick and depending on what surface you’re applying on, e.g. hydrated skin or slightly dried down skin, the spread can vary but it isn’t too bad. Until my husband looked at my face and went “ what’s going on with your face?”
And that’s when I realised how it really didn’t sit on my skin well through the day. If your skin tolerates physical/mineral sunscreen filters then I think this would be a pretty nice product, just not for me. So I use it exclusively for pottering around at home or other parts of the body.
Yes I have reached the end of my tube - if you cut it open you can still get a few applications out of it. Scroll through and you’ll see how the product is on the skin, then spread. After spreading I allowed it to sit for a bit to check the white cast. I took over a minute for the white cast to lessen. This type of product on my skin is really not fun because after application it still feels a bit greasy. I took another shot after about 5 mins and most of the white cast is gone but you still see the residue that doesn’t go away.
As much as I love Abib as a brand, this isn’t a sunscreen I would buy again and it’s a good reminder to check the sunscreen filters and descriptions before buying with the knowledge that my skin does not enjoy physical filters.
Have you used this product? Did you have a good time because your skin is okay/likes physical filters?
