#49 - Skin Edit - Heimish Bulgarian Rose Water Mist Serum [Review]
Earlier this month I was gifted this Heimish Bulgarian Rose Mist Serum to try, courtesy of Style Korean Global. I have been trialling it, perhaps not enough as I haven't built in misting in my routine, and because I don't live in Asia or US, this concept can be foreign. I truly think that sometimes beauty is having the courage to mask, mist, and/or apply a full face of makeup in public!
Packaging
This bottle is aptly pink, consistent with the whole rose theme, It's a lightweight spray bottle at a decent size to fit in a medium sized handbag. I have carried this in my kit whilst I travel or at event/workshop all day.
Scent
It's not everyday that I talk about the scent, but I love rose scented products (must be age), so this was just so lovely to use and smell. If you're not into rose, this would be off-putting, although the scent does not smell artificial and isn't strong (absolutely hate strongly fragrant products!)
Ingredients
The main ingredient is Rosa Damascena Flower water, but it also contains niacinamide, other flower and fruit extracts and oils, which makes this more than just a mist. It's got other good stuff that keeps the skin hydrated and doesn't take away the moisture within the skin.
Effacacy
Like I mentioned, I haven't trialed this enough as this misting hasn't been built into my routine, even though it is definitely a good habit to have especially if you have dry or dehydrated skin!
The one day I kept to it, it has kept my makeup (using foundation) more or less set, and added some amazing highlights to my face. Not the oily look, the dewy, good skin look. If your skin is like mine and naturally produces oil, you may need to blot off excess oil with tissue or a pad before spraying this on.
I've tried to keep the lighting relatively consistent and added a couple more images of close up. Usually my makeup would be streaky AF by the end of the day (or even at midday) but this has kept my skin hydrated enough fro my makeup not to crease that much by end of day. In the close ups you see that my skin is textured, but the foundation hasn't creased around areas it would have (near eyes, around nose, mouth area).
At 3pm, after having sprayed it for a bit and waited for it to sink in, it has kept my skin looking dewy, or at least not oily. I put this down to the skincare function it has, and not just rose water or like other brands, thermal water. For dehydrated skin like mine, and dry skin, you really do need a product that locks in the rest of the skincare you have. This does this sufficiently where the oils lock the moisture in, but it sinks into the skin nicely even with makeup on, and rose water also calms the skin down. This means it would be great for summer or if you are out or about where there are irritants or the air is just too hot (the latter for me, maybe not in the UK though...!)
All in all this is a really lovely mist product. If you mist often I would definitely recommend trying this out, a lot of this recommendation is to do with how the ingredients - rose water is truly high on the list and other serums and nutrition that are present, albeit potentially little, which I believe makes it work well as a mist throughout the day.
Price
Not gonna lie, this stuff isn't cheap. At full price, Style Korean sells it at USD 24USD. It's currently on discount and the price has dropped to USD 19.99 (check it out here).
Would I purchase this? If I don't want to experiment, it's likely that I will just stick with this one. However I am currently also intrigued in a lot of what other similar products can do so I will hold off for now.
Do you mist? How do you do it and what tips can you share? Would this have a part in your routine or do you prefer another product?
